Last night Steve and I had a date night by default. The kids fell asleep at 5:00 pm and slept until 6:00 am this morning. Serenity watched them while we hit the town. By metro, trams, and busses we finally reached Trastevere. This was the place to be in Rome! The alleyways were right off a postcard, picture perfect old Rome. The place was packed! Bars, night clubs, cafes, riverside bars, restaurants, street vendors, flame dancers, magicians, street performers, and ever person in Rome under 40. We waited for 40 minutes for what people were claiming was the best pizza in Rome, Dar Poeta. We had a 1 liter carafe of house red, a bottle of sparkling water, a Salmon Gorgonzola pizza, and an Anchovy zucchini blossom pizza. All for 25€. That’s cheap for Rome. It took us almost 2 hours to get 8 miles back to the apartment by 2:00 am. Trastevere is not an easy metro ride away but still a must do on a Saturday night.
