After a 24 hour journey from our house to San Francisco to Seoul to Bangkok. My dad picked us up from the airport and drove us to his house. Without Salome to guide my dad we once again missed our exit out of the roundabout at Victory Monument. After a 5 hour nap we got up and showered then headed out for Mo Chit Bus Station. This is the bus station that services transportation to northern Thailand. My dad dropped us off at the curb.
Sierra and I then found a bank inside to exchange our money at. The rates aren’t as good as a money exchange place but it was better than nothing. It’s been a year since I’ve used any Thai but when it comes to money it all comes back instantly! We then go into 7/11 (the most convenient convenience store in Thailand, there is one every 20 feet) to purchase a nano SIM card for my phone. I seriously do not know enough Thai to get the best package. For about $7 I have some data and some minutes. No idea how many so when it stops working I guess it’s back to 7/11 I go.
We then go to the correct window selling bus tickets to Korat. For $6 each we get our bus tickets for a bus leaving in 5 minutes at gate 79. We high tail it down the stairs and rush to jump on the air conditioned bus that’s pulling out at that moment. Departing for our 4 hour bus ride north. We are shown our seats, given a blanket, a bottle of water, and a muffin! Try getting that kind of service from Greyhound!
Can’t wait to get to Korat in time for Loy Krathong festivities tonight!
