Rome Part 2

Today we got up and had breakfast at the hostel. We then took the bus to Borghese Gallery. It’s nice to take the bus instead of the metro. It drops you pretty darn close to where you are going. This cuts down on our walking some. Thankfully as we have been averaging about 8-11 miles a day. And I’m still gaining weight from all the gelato and pastries, oh and pizza!

At the gallery we booked the English guided tour. I’m so glad we did as we got so much out of this tiny museum. I really enjoyed all the Bernini statues. He was a master of marble! They even have his first sculpture that he made when he was 11. The details are amazing!!!

Afterwards we enjoy Borghese Park it is huge and beautiful. Then we walk to the Spanish Steps, they are ugly and under refurbishment. Darn! Then we drop by the Trevi Fountain again. Last time the people we asked to take a photo of us literally took photos of us. You couldn’t see the fountain at all.

Then we went to visit the tomb of the unknown soldier. Then the Mouth of Truth. My favorite sight in Rome. I’m always afraid it will bite my hand off!

Afterwards we did Rick Steve’s audio tour of Trastevere. Then we went for pizza at a trendy pizza place.
